Shots, knife wounds in an apartment complex kills a man, another is hospitalized

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – One man is dead and another man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a shooting and knife wrench in an apartment complex near Coliseum Boulevard.

Just before 1:30 a.m., Fort Wayne police reported to the West Wind Apartments at Block 2100 on West Point Drive. A caller told the police that a male subject was yelling for help in the hallway. The police arrived in the hallway and found a man with an apparent stab wound. They also found another male subject who suffered from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim of the shooting was pronounced dead at the scene.

The stabbed victim was admitted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Upon arrival, his injuries were upgraded to non-life threatening.

According to a statement, initial investigations indicate that there has been an argument between the two victims in the apartment. Investigators hope to learn more details as soon as they can interview the knife victim in the hospital.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office will disclose the victim’s identity and cause of death at a later date. The Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Attorney General and Allen County Coroner’s Office are still investigating this incident.
